“The Good Bad Mother” Captures Ra Mi Ran’s Tough Love So She Can Give Everything For Her Son

The Good Bad Mother

Limitless acting is expected for Ra Mi Ran’s new drama project The Good Bad Mother.

Ra Mi Ran, Lee Do Hyun and Ahn Eun Jin are set to decorate the small screen with a therapeutic story brimming with laughter in The Good Bad Mother.

The series follows the story of a single mom who has been widowed at a young age, Young-soon runs a pig farm, and raises her son Kang-ho by herself. She becomes a “bad mother” – hard on her son because she doesn’t want him to grow up penniless or powerless.

Thanks to her discipline, Kang-ho grows up to be a prominent prosecutor, but loses his memory due to an unfortunate accident and becomes a 7-year-old again. Young-soon decides to become a “bad mother” again for Kang-ho in this comforting and touching comedy series that tracks the journey of recovery between mother and son.

In charge of the production is Director Shim Na-yeon of Beyond Evil and At Eighteen fame. Penning the script is Writer Bae Se Young who worked on films Life is Beautiful, Extreme Job, and Intimate Strangers to name a few.

The latest teaser acquaints viewers with her character Jin Young-soon who became a bad mother for the sake of her son who means a lot to her. Ra Mi-ran sets out to transform into acting without limits once again.

Nappeun Omma Ra Mi Ran

In the photos released, Youngsoon’s years of living as Kang-ho’s mother are shown. First of all, her determined and resolute gaze toward Kang-ho draws attention. The sight of her earnestly praying also heightens curiosity.

Young-soon, who had long since forgotten her own dream, made her one and only son the goal and reason of her life. She is known as a friendly and naive woman running a pig farm for the villagers of Jouri. But she is a ‘strong mom’ who has never praised or encouraged her son Kang-ho properly.

Ra Mi Ran cited the warm script as the reason for choosing The Good Bad Mother.

I don’t know how long it’s been since I read more than six scripts at once. I cried and laughed from the first time I read the script, and thought that there was no reason not to choose it.

She also gives a peek at her new character as well as preparations.

Jin Young-soon seems like a person without a path, but that’s why she is a person who knows the precious things in life even more. I didn’t have to put any special emphasis on acting. When I was in that situation, I felt the magic that was created by itself.

Jouri Village’s Precious Trio

Previously, the second teaser video put forward the youth of Jouri village.

Mi-joo (Ahn Eun Jin) and Sam-shik (Yoo In Soo) were born and raised in Jouri Village along with Kang-ho.

Kang-ho and Mi-joo, who were born at the same time as if by fate, establish themselves as indispensable and precious to each other.

To Kang-ho, who only looks forward and lives fiercely to become a prosecutor as her mother Young-soon wishes, Mi-joo’s candid and bold cry, “I want to invest in you,” causes excitement.

However, their relationship changes as Mi-joo pushes Kang-ho away with a cold and determined voice. Kang-ho, who has a calm expression without saying anything, raises expectations on the change in their relationship.

Additionally, Jouri village’s featured mothers: Young-soon, Mi-joo’s mother, Mrs. Jung (Kang Mal Geum), and Sam-shik’s mother, Mrs. Park (Seo Yi Suk), draw on the maternal love that resembles all mothers in the world.

At the end of the video, Kang-ho looks excited and remarks knowing about someone pains his heart as well. From the eyes to the tone of voice, it foretells the start of his life reboot, which has returned to a seven-year-old.

JTBC’s The Good Bad Mother will be broadcast for the first time on April 26 at 10:30 pm with a total of 14 episodes.
